Baseball Recap: Mountain View Comes Up Short

While it was Mountain View who put the first points on the board on Saturday, it was Middleton who put up more. The Mountain View Mavericks fell just short of the Middleton Vikings by a score of 5-4. The Mavericks were not able to make up for their loss to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Mountain View saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cade Burnham, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Burnham also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another was Cooper Schneidt, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

This is the second loss in a row for Mountain View and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Middleton, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Coming up, Mountain View will face off against Highland at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Middleton, they will take on Thunder Ridge at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Middleton has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
