Basketball Recap: Daniel Anumba and Cesar Feria Secure Win for Mountain View

Mountain View won the last time they faced Canyon del Oro and things went their way on Friday too. The Mountain Lions skirted past the Dorados 43-41.

Leading Mountain View to victory were Cesar Feria and Daniel Anumba. Feria shot 67% from the field to rack up 15 points in addition to five boards and four steals, while Anumba dropped a double-double with ten points and 15 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Feria a new career-high in blocks (two). Levi Reidhead was another key player, putting up three points along with five assists and three steals.

Mountain View was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Canyon del Oro only posted six.

Canyon del Oro's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julian Robles, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Aiden Peiro, who scored eight points and four steals.

Mountain View's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Canyon del Oro, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Mountain View won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Tanque Verde at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Mountain Lions will need to watch out since the Hawks have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Canyon del Oro, they will square off against Flowing Wells at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
