Softball Game Preview: St. Margaret's Scotties vs. Northumberland Indians

The St. Margaret's Scotties will venture away from home to challenge the Northumberland Indians at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Margaret's comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

St. Margaret's lost 20-3 to Collegiate on Friday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northumberland). They put the hurt on Colonial Beach with a sharp 23-5 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won six matches by nine runs or more so far this season.

Braylin Beauchamp made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Beauchamp was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Emmalee King was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Abigail Bates was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Northumberland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .756. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

St. Margaret's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Northumberland, their record is now 9-3.

St. Margaret's suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Northumberland in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Scotties avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
