Walnut came into Thursday's contest looking for another win against Hamilton, but Justin Verner wouldn't allow it. The Lions blew past the Wildcats 49-22 on Thursday with plenty of help from Verner, who rushed for 169 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also threw for 195 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 passes. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 100.4 rushing yards per game.

Hamilton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.7 points over those games. As for Walnut, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
