Southland league recap: 5/7/12

This could be a critical week for Crete-Monee, which holds a 2.00-game lead over Rich Central for the league's top spot in the standings.

Rich South has now lost 16 straight games, currently the longest losing streak in the league. The Stars lost another 2 games last week, including a 9-2 defeat against Crete-Monee.

The Olympians boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. Rich Central's pitchers have been charged with only 90 hits and have struck out 112 batters. Jalen Purchase is tops on the staff with 33 Ks.
