Basketball Game Preview: East Henderson Eagles vs. Smoky Mountain Mustangs

East Henderson hasn't had much luck against Smoky Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The East Henderson Eagles will face off against the Smoky Mountain Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Tuesday, East Henderson was beaten by Pisgah 62-34. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 349th, while the Bears are ranked 33rd).

Meanwhile, Smoky Mountain ended up a good deal behind Franklin on Wednesday and lost 56-40. The Mustangs have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

East Henderson's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Smoky Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

East Henderson lost to Smoky Mountain on the road by a decisive 39-23 margin in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Thankfully for East Henderson, Greenlee Flynn (who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
