The biggest upset of the week belonged to Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, who took down 166th ranked Bishop Sullivan Catholic, 28-20. Tim Burns threw for 70 yards and one touchdown and ran for two yards in the win.
Hampton Roads Academy was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to first in VISFA Tidewater. Earlier in the week, the Navigators triumphed over Fuqua 25-0.
Ty Smith was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 87 yards on 16 carries as Greenbrier Christian Academy beat the Crusaders. Teammate Josh Miller added to the ground attack by rushing for 18 yards.
Morse was the best wideout in the league this week as Nansemond-Suffolk Academy defeated Bishop Sullivan Catholic. Morse tallied one reception for 53 yards. David Gough helped Nansemond-Suffolk Academy's passing attack out by catching one ball for 10 yards.
6-foot-4 quarterback Burns of Lew Johnston's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 302. He has also thrown two touchdowns. On the ground, the Gators' Smith has rushed for 427 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Bryce Myers. The Greenbrier Christian Academy star has 10 catches for 178 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Norfolk Academy takes on Hampton Roads Academy. As it stands, the Bulldogs are in fourth, while Bryce Kiser's team is in first.
The Saints moved up to 186 from 239 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 28-20 win over Carl Turner's team helped Nansemond-Suffolk Academy improve its standing.
