Basketball Recap: Wesley Curtis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Copper Hills over Layton

Copper Hills lost against Layton back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Copper Hills Grizzlies took a 74-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Layton Lancers. The Grizzlies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Grizzlies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Wesley Curtis, who went 7 for 9 on his way to 22 points. The dominant performance gave Curtis a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Curtis, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Leading Layton to victory were Sam Romer and Karter Miller. Romer posted 25 points and three steals, while Miller put up 16 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Romer's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tage Allen, who had 11 points.

Copper Hills now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Layton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Copper Hills didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-50 victory against Skyline on the 6th. As for Layton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 87-52 win against Northridge on the 5th.
