The Winn Mavericks will face off against the McCollum Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
On Tuesday, Winn came up short against Southwest Legacy and fell 5-2.
Julee Salinas was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those RBI were her first of the season.
Meanwhile, McCollum never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Harlandale as McCollum made off with a 12-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Cowboys, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.
RUIZ MADELYNN was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, MARTINEZ LAUREN and ALVAREZ KAITLIN did most of the damage at the plate: LAUREN scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while KAITLIN went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave KAITLIN a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of SORAYA TORRES, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-2.
McCollum always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harlandale only posted an OBP of .348.
McCollum has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. Winn's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-8.
