Softball Recap: Salina Comes Up Short

Salina extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 1-8. They came up short against the Dewey Bulldoggers, falling 15-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Wildcats were not able to get on the board.

As for Dewey, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The result was nothing new for Dewey, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Dewey's part, Kyla Overton made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Overton was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

In other pitching news, Brooke Eckert looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk any time she's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Dewey let Londyn Bond and Chanley Herren run wild. Bond went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and one double, while Herren got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Herren has posted over her last 13 games. Another player making a difference was Landry Herren, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and two RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Dewey beat Salina by a score of 23-1 on Tuesday.
