Softball Game Preview: South Central Trojans vs. Mapleton Mounties

For the second straight game, South Central will face off against Mapleton. The Trojans are taking a road trip to take on the Mounties at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Central is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

South Central took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against Mapleton, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Mounties on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted against the Mounties since April 5, 2022.

Viola Culler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Culler was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ember Phillips, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Ella Sanders was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

South Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in three consecutive games.
