Basketball Game Preview: Lone Pine Golden Eagles vs. California City Ravens

The Lone Pine Golden Eagles and the California City Ravens will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Lone Pine sitting on five straight wins and California City on three.

Lone Pine saw some tournament action on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 72-57 victory over Immanuel Christian.

Lone Pine found their leader in sophomore Anthony Guerra, who posted 28 points in addition to six assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Guerra has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Fogerty, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 18 rebounds.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for California City against Mojave on Friday as the team secured a 62-15 win. Fans of the Ravens have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Lone Pine's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for California City, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.

Lone Pine ended up a good deal behind California City in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, losing 70-56. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
