Sara Craig tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alivia Longo, who went 2-for-4 with four runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Madilynne O'Malley, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Padua Academy's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sussex Tech on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, Padua Academy's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Cape Henlopen is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Padua Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
Cape Henlopen got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Padua Academy by a conclusive 9-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cape Henlopen since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
