Softball Game Preview: California Military Institute Rough Riders vs. Temecula Prep Patriots

California Military Institute hasn't had much luck against Temecula Prep recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rough Riders will take on the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. California Military Institute has given up an average of 17.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

California Military Institute is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 21st straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They took a 15-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of Nuview Bridge.

Valerie Martinez was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Bella Delgado, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Temecula Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 24-20 to San Jacinto Leadership Academy. Even if the Patriots couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Nahri Scarlett made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and seven RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Amina Antoine, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

Temecula Prep's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for California Military Institute, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.

California Military Institute suffered a grim 19-1 defeat to Temecula Prep in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Rough Riders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
