Soccer Game Preview: Lutheran vs. Cheyenne Mountain

Lutheran hasn't had much luck against Cheyenne Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lions will take on the Red-Tailed Hawks at 6:30 p.m. Lutheran will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

If Lutheran beats Cheyenne Mountain with three goals on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Lions came out on top against Air Academy by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday.

Mason Massarotti and Gavin Rice scored all three of Lutheran's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Meanwhile, Cheyenne Mountain earned a 4-2 win over Palmer Ridge on Thursday. Cheyenne Mountain haven't had any issues with Palmer Ridge recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Cheyenne Mountain now has a winning record of 5-4-2. As for Lutheran, their win bumped their record up to 7-3-1.

Lutheran suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Cheyenne Mountain in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Lions were down 3-0.
