Basketball Recap: Wayne Memorial Piles Up the Points Against Stevenson

Wayne Memorial had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They claimed a resounding 81-47 victory over the Stevenson Spartans. Given the Zebras' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Spartans are ranked 179th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wayne Memorial got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carlos Medlock Jr out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 30 points and nine boards. The contest was Medlock Jr's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Jaylohn Allen was another key player, going 6 for 8 en route to 16 points and five steals.

Wayne Memorial's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.4 points per game. As for Stevenson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.

Wayne Memorial will welcome Dearborn at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Stevenson, they will challenge Glenn at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
