Softball Recap: Innovation Has No Trouble Against Colonial

Innovation won the last time they faced Colonial and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bulls were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over the Grenadiers. Considering the Bulls have won four matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Giuliana Rodriguez-Fernandez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rodriguez-Fernandez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Innovation got a massive performance out of Miley Serrano, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Serrano a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reagan Oslund, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Innovation always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory got Innovation back to even at 5-5. As for Colonial, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Innovation and Colonial will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Bulls see the field they'll take on East River at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Colonial, their break will end when they face Boone at 6:00 p.m. on the 23rd.
