Basketball Preview: Paoli Rams vs. Salem Lions
The Paoli Rams will venture away from home to face off against the Salem Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Paoli has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
Having struggled with seven defeats in a row dating back to last season, Paoli finally turned things around against Shoals on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Jug Rox 58-26. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-9.
Jericho Hopper continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lilly Hall, who posted eight points plus nine steals.
Paoli was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.
Meanwhile, Salem was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 65-17 defeat at the hands of West Washington.
Salem's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Paoli, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
Paoli was able to grind out a solid win over Salem in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, winning 39-29. The rematch might be a little tougher for Paoli since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
