Preview: Josey Eagles vs. Washington County Golden Hawks
Josey has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Washington County Golden Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Josey has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Josey gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 70-10 victory over Westside. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 52-0.
It was another big night for Kerri Fluellen, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten assists. Fluellen is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tymiria Mack, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Washington County came up short against Baldwin on Saturday and fell 57-45. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Washington County in their matchups with Baldwin: they've now lost eight in a row.
Josey pushed their record up to 16-2 with that win, which was their 16th straight at home. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33.13 points. As for Washington County, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
Everything went Josey's way against Washington County in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as Josey made off with a 58-34 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Josey since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
