Softball Preview: Lake Catholic Cougars vs. Beaumont School Blue Streaks

The Lake Catholic Cougars will take on the Beaumont School Blue Streaks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Catholic will be strutting in after a win while Beaumont School will be coming in after a defeat.

Lake Catholic headed into their last match having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Western Reserve Academy let them put that streak behind them. The Cougars put the hurt on the Pioneers with a sharp 14-6 victory on Wednesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Lizzie Bammerlin made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Bammerlin was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Jules Amato was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those RBI were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Taylor Jacobs, who went 2-for-5 with four runs and two stolen bases.

Lake Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Beaumont School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 13-6 to Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin.

Penelope Zoldak made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run.

Lake Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Beaumont School, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
