Softball Recap: Woodbridge Starts off Right with Win over Perth Amboy

Woodbridge gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Perth Amboy Panthers. The victory continues a trend for the Barrons in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Madelyn Brenner made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Brenner was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Woodbridge got a massive performance out of Holly Casaliggi, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Kylie Rackett was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Woodbridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Perth Amboy only managed nine hits.

Woodbridge and Perth Amboy will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Barrons are set to face off against their familiar foe South Brunswick at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Perth Amboy will challenge rival Carteret at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
