Basketball Recap: Muncie Burris Skates Past GEO Next Generation with Ease

It was a Battle of the Birds when Muncie Burris duked it out with GEO Next Generation on Friday. The Owls claimed a resounding 61-18 victory over the Eagles. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Owls considering their 29-point performance the contest before.

Leading Muncie Burris to victory were Malachi Smith and Sam Isom. Smith shot 60% from the field on his way to 12 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, while Isom posted nine points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Isom a new career-high in assists (four). Rees Cook was another key player, putting up eight points.

The win got Muncie Burris back to even at 1-1. As for GEO Next Generation, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Muncie Burris wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 77-31 defeat against Yorktown on the 6th. As for GEO Next Generation, they will take on Crosspointe Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
