St. Albans is 8-2 against Hurricane since January of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The St. Albans Red Dragons will square off against the Hurricane Redskins at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in St. Albans' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.

St. Albans is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: East Fairmont, who was ranked 13th at the time (St. Albans was ranked 14th). St. Albans opened the new year with a less-than-successful 64-55 loss to East Fairmont. The Red Dragons' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jaycee Elzy, who posted 23 points and six rebounds. That was a full 41.8% of St. Albans' points, marking the fourth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alayna Hermansdorfer, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Even though they lost, St. Albans smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Hurricane put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 45-36 win over Huntington.

Hurricane pushed their record up to 10-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for St. Albans, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Everything came up roses for St. Albans against Hurricane when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 66-32 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Albans since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
