Basketball Recap: Hammond Comes Up Short on the Road Against Central

Hammond had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 61-54 to the Central Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tornadoes of the 62-48 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Hammond lost, don't look at Terran Perry. Despite the final result, he went 8-for-18 en route to 24 points. Another player making a difference was Zaylin Elzy, who posted nine points and three steals.

Central has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Hammond will head out on the road to take on Benjamin Franklin at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sumner at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
