Football Recap: Lubbock-Cooper Find Success

After losing to Memorial the last time they met, Lubbock-Cooper decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Pirates walked away with a 49-42 victory over the Mavericks on Thursday.

Memorial's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamari Dean, who picked up 177 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Dean's longest reception was for an incredible 71 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Castles, who threw for 291 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes.

Lubbock-Cooper now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Memorial, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.

Lubbock-Cooper will face off against Wylie at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. The Pirates will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.88 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Memorial, they will take on Plainview at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. The Bulldogs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
