Basketball Recap: Cortland Starts Season with Victory Against Homer + How To Watch

Cortland gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They managed a 52-47 win over the Homer Trojans. The score was all tied up 24-24 at the break, but the Purple Tigers were the better team in the second half.

Cortland was led to victory by Reed Smith and Cole Meeker. Smith shot 83% from the field on his way to 12 points, while Meeker went 5-for-8 to rack up 10 points and six rebounds. Zach Muir was another key player, putting up six points in addition to six steals and five boards.

Looking ahead, Cortland will challenge Chittenango at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Homer, they will take on Central Square at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
