Colin McCartney gave up the fewest earned runs he has since back in March on Friday. Harding University had no answer to McCartney as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). McCartney has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

McCartney's effort led Mallard Creek over Harding University and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mavericks are a perfect 4-0 against the Rams going back to April of 2016, a lead they'll look to extend.
