Football Recap: Snook Christian Academy Falls Short Against Ranked Trinity Christian

Snook Christian Academy faced Trinity Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Snook Christian Academy lost to Trinity Christian on the road by a 53-34 margin. While Snook Christian Academy had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored Trinity Christian 14-7.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aaron Ashley, who threw for 273 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 90 yards and one score. Ashley's passing game has become a key predictor of Snook Christian Academy's success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-4 otherwise. 121 of Ashley's passing yards were hauled in by Lukas Merchant, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.

Trinity Christian found their leader in sophomore William Dooley, who threw for 335 yards and six TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes. Those six passing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for Dooley. Reid House did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 122 receiving yards.
