Football Recap: University Hawks vs. Martinsburg Bulldogs
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact University can now relate to. They had to suffer through a 44-13 loss at the hands of the Martinsburg Bulldogs. Having soared to a lofty 35 points in the game before, the Hawks couldn't push the score so high this time.
Jack Byrer threw for 193 yards and one TD. Kaleil Lewis was his top target, picking up 78 receiving yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Martinsburg to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brian Dick, who rushed for 145 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 100 yards and three TDs. The Bulldogs' leading receiver Boston Todd was Dick's top target yet again, picking up 60 receiving yards and a pair of scores, while also rushing for 75 yards and one touchdown on only five carries.
University's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Martinsburg, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 11-2.
University does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Martinsburg, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 28-21 defeat against Morgantown on the 5th.
