Volleyball Recap: Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs vs. Sanford Mustangs
Haxtun and Sanford squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Haxtun had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. The Fightin' Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
Haxtun came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 20-25, 26-24, 27-25.
Haxtun's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Katiegh Cody, who had 18 assists and 12 digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsley Koberstein, who had 14 digs and three aces.
Haxtun's defeat dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Sanford, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season.
Coincidentally, Haxtun and Sanford will both be playing Highland the next time they take the court. The Fightin' Bulldogs will head out to face the Huskies at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Mustangs will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
