Football Recap: Newark Valley Takes a Loss

The matchup between Newark Valley and Spencer-Van Etten/Candor on Friday hardly resembled the 11-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Cardinals were beaten by the Eagles 48-19. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 11-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.

Newark Valley has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Spencer-Van Etten/Candor, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Newark Valley is set to square off against their familiar foe Charles O. Dickerson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Spencer-Van Etten/Candor will challenge rival Groton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
