Basketball Recap: Woodcrest Christian's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak at Home

Woodcrest Christian had lost six games at home dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 2-3 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They took down the California Lutheran C-Hawks 76-57. The Royals' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Woodcrest Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isaac Lytle, who shot 55% from the field to rack up 17 points. What's more, Lytle posted two assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Levi Kuehl was another key player, going 6-for-9 en route to 13 points along with eight assists and five boards.

Woodcrest Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

As for California Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. They have struggled against Woodcrest Christian recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, California Lutheran saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tyler Treder dropped a double-double with 38 points and 14 rebounds. The game was Treder's ninth in a row with at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ezra Seow, who put up 14 points and five assists.

Coming up, Woodcrest Christian will take on Lakeside in a tournament on Tuesday. As for California Lutheran, they will be playing at home against Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
