East faced Thunder Basin in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Thunderbirds sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Bolts. For the Thunderbirds, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 win the Bolts walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

East was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (100-99), but they still managed to win. The final score came out to 13-25, 25-20, 26-24, 20-25, 15-6.

Hannah Janes paced East's offense, picking up 14 kills. Janes got some help from Charli Cameron and her 26 assists.

Despite the loss, Thunder Basin still got an impressive performance from Traecyn Hilliard, who had 21 digs and two assists.

East now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Thunder Basin, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-4.

Coming up, East will be taking part in a tournament against Evanston at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Thunder Basin, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against South at 6:00 p.m.
