Basketball Recap: Miller Comes Up Short

Miller lost against Flour Bluff back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Miller Buccaneers were outmatched by the Flour Bluff Hornets and fell 47-17. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 678th, while the Hornets are ranked 90th).

Despite the defeat, Miller saw an underclassman step up: freshman Janae Torres posted four points and six rebounds.

Miller now has a losing record at 13-14. As for Flour Bluff, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Miller has already played their next contest (against Gregory-Portland), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Flour Bluff will host Alice at 6:15 p.m. on January 24th. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Flour Bluff comes in on six and Alice on four.
