Volleyball Game Preview: Plano East Panthers vs. Byron Nelson Bobcat

Plano East is 0-4 against Byron Nelson since August of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Panthers will challenge the Bobcat. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Plano East comes in on eight and Byron Nelson on 75.

Plano East is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on Eastlake with a sharp 3-0 win.

Meanwhile, Byron Nelson and Allen (ranked first and 40th in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile matchup on Friday. The Bobcat blew past the Eagles 3-0.

Byron Nelson's win came from a few key players Plano East will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sophee Peterson, who hit 64.3% for nine kills and 49 assists and 14 digs. She is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last 80 games she's played dating back to last season.

Byron Nelson's victory bumped their record up to 39-0. As for Plano East, their win bumped their record up to 31-10.

Plano East came up short against Byron Nelson in their previous meeting back in September of 2023, falling 3-1. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
