Baseball Recap: Centaurus Sets Scoring Season-High Against Skyline

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Centaurus). They put the hurt on the Skyline Falcons with a sharp 22-4 win on Thursday. With that victory, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Liam Sweeney made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Centaurus is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-8 otherwise. Sweeney was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Centaurus got a massive performance out of Logan Ukleja, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most hits Ukleja has posted since back in March. Will Erdmann was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Centaurus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .784. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Centaurus' win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-9. As for Skyline, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-13.

Looking ahead, Centaurus will venture away from home to challenge Broomfield at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. As for Skyline, they will host Lewis-Palmer at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
