Baseball Game Preview: Southern Aroostook Warriors vs. Hodgdon Hawks

Southern Aroostook is 1-8-1 against Hodgdon since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Warriors will venture away from home to square off against the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. Southern Aroostook will be strutting in after a win while Hodgdon will be coming in after a defeat.

Southern Aroostook is headed out to face Hodgdon after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Everything went the Warriors' way against Central Aroostook on Tuesday as they made off with an 18-5 victory.

Trafton Russell made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Russell was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Southern Aroostook got a massive performance out of Connor Lilley, who fired off two home runs and three runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Dillan Bishop, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Southern Aroostook always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central Aroostook only posted an OBP of .423.

Meanwhile, Hodgdon didn't have quite enough to beat Katahdin on Tuesday and fell 8-6. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Hodgdon saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Fitzpatrick, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.

Southern Aroostook might still be hurting after the 21-3 loss they got from Hodgdon when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
