Basketball Recap: Bush Takes a Loss

Bush saw some tournament action on Friday. They were outmatched by the Poinciana Eagles and fell 71-32. While losing is never fun, the Blazers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 222nd in Washington, while the Eagles are ranked 110th in Florida).

It was another big night for Javonte Simpson-Lee, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 13 rebounds for Poinciana. Simpson-Lee has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ernest Nunn, who posted five points and four steals.

Bush has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Poinciana, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.

Bush won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Tournament Opponent on Saturday. As for Poinciana, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Poinciana is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62 points per game this season.
