Basketball Recap: Neuse Charter Skates Past Union with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Neuse Charter's strategy against Union on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Neuse Charter Cougars blew the Union Spartans out of the water with a 69-40 final score. The Cougars pushed the score to 57-34 by the end of the third, a deficit the Spartans had little chance of recovering from.

Neuse Charter got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tev Collins out in front who posted 12 points in addition to seven steals and six assists. Those six assists gave Collins a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Klayton Tew, who put up 16 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.

Collins wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Neuse Charter was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Neuse Charter's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-8. As for Union, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Neuse Charter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 39-38 win against Rosewood on the 29th. Union has also already played their next game (against North Duplin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
