Preview: La Jolla Country Day Torreys vs. Grossmont Foothillers
The La Jolla Country Day Torreys are on the road again on Saturday and play against the Grossmont Foothillers at 2:00 p.m. on November 25th. La Jolla Country Day knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Grossmont likes a good challenge.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only La Jolla Country Day walked away with it. They slipped by the Warriors 39-38 on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
It was another big night for Jaden Mangini, who threw for 281 yards and five touchdowns, and also rushed for 82 yards. Another player making a difference was Madden Craig, who picked up 94 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Grossmont didn't have too much trouble with Mission Bay on the road on Friday as they won 30-14. The win made it back-to-back wins for Grossmont.
Isaac Aceves was on fire: he rushed for 244 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Herber, who threw for 83 yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Grossmont's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 3.5 sacks. Jacob Suter was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Their wins bumped La Jolla Country Day to 10-3 and Fallbrook to 5-7.
