Softball Recap: Buckeye Valley Gets the Win

Buckeye Valley's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Olentangy Berlin Bears, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Barons have posted since May 12, 2025.

Brooklyn Degen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Sophia Richards was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Indiciani, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

With the win, Buckeye Valley broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 19-5. As for Olentangy Berlin, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-15.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Buckeye Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against London at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Barons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Raiders have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Olentangy Berlin, they will face off against Olentangy Liberty at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
