Baseball Recap: Zanesville Beats Morgan for Their Third Straight Victory

Zanesville extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 11-14. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Morgan Raiders. That's two games straight that the Blue Devils have won by just one run.

Zanesville got a great performance from Maddox Mohler as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Mohler has posted since back in April.

On the hitting side, Zanesville's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ja'Ckye McBride, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

As for Morgan, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-20. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Morgan's side, McGwire Winner made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Zanesville will challenge Dover at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Crimson Tornadoes' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Blue Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Morgan, they will square off against Ridgewood at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
