Basketball Recap: Christian Brown Key Part of Team Effort in Yellow Jackets Win

There's no place like home for Irmo, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They walked away with a 59-52 victory over the Newberry Bulldogs on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Irmo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Christian Brown, who shot 58% from the field to rack up 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylin Gant, who posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Irmo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 17 consecutive games dating back to last season.

The win got Irmo back to even at 2-2.

Looking ahead, Irmo will challenge Georgetown at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Newberry, they will head out to square off against Union County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
