Football Recap: Red Springs Takes a Loss

The matchup between Red Springs and Whiteville on Friday hardly resembled the 6-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Red Devils fell 33-28 to the Wolfpack. While the Red Devils didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolfpack 7-0 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why Red Springs lost, don't look at Chase Boone. Despite the final result, he threw for 239 yards and a pair of TDs, and also punched in one score on the ground. Bryan McCollum was in the mix as well, providing the Red Devils with one touchdown.

Red Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Whiteville, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2.

Looking ahead, Red Springs will challenge Fairmont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Devils will be up against the Golden Tornadoes' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.78 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Whiteville, they will face off against South Columbus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
