Basketball Game Preview: Axtell Wildcats vs. Ansley/Litchfield Spartans

The Axtell Wildcats will be taking part in a tournament against the Ansley/Litchfield Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Axtell is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.

Last Monday, Axtell lost to Overton on the road by a 51-35 margin.

Meanwhile, Ansley/Litchfield came up short against Loomis on Saturday and fell 48-39. While the Spartans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolves 12-4 in the first quarter.

Axtell will need focus on slowing down Kerry M Ryan, one of several Ansley/Litchfield players who made an impact when they last played. She went 5 for 7 on her way to 12 points and four blocks. Kiera Bailey was another key player, putting up nine points.

Axtell's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Ansley/Litchfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Axtell beat Ansley/Litchfield 39-30 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Axtell since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
