Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hazelwood West). They blew past the Affton Cougars 19-3 on Wednesday. Considering the Wildcats have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Allisan Cafolla and Taylor Lee were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Cafolla struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Lee pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts Cafolla has posted since back in October of 2024. At bat, Cafolla went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one double, while Lee got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Mia Boschen was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mariah Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Hazelwood West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Affton only posted an OBP of .250.

Hazelwood West is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.
