Football Recap: Glencoe Yellowjackets vs. Hokes Bluff Eagles
If Glencoe was feeling good fresh off their 42-0 takedown of Wellborn two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Yellowjackets were outmatched by the Hokes Bluff Eagles and fell 49-21. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Yellowjackets of the 35-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.
Despite the defeat, Glencoe saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alex Hudson Jr rushed for 145 yards and one score on only 12 carries. Hudson Jr's longest rush was for an incredible 85 yards. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Isaiah Young, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
Bryce Whitaker had an outrageously good game for Hokes Bluff as he rushed for 254 yards and four TDs while picking up 13.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 41 yards and one touchdown.
Glencoe's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Hokes Bluff, their record now sits at 4-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glencoe will face off against Weaver at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hokes Bluff, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Alexandria at 7:00 p.m.
