Leake County took a 21-point loss the last time they faced off against Pelahatchie, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Gators skirted past the Chiefs 64-62. The Gators' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Jaquailyn Pippen had a dynamite game, dropping a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Harrell, who shot 42% from the field to rack up 14 points.

Pelahatchie lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Zion Grant, who went 7-for-12 from beyond the arc on his way to 33 points and three steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 18 points per game. Another player making a difference was Laterrion Irvin, who shot 88% from the field en route to 14 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Leake County's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Pelahatchie, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leake County will host Humphreys County at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Pelahatchie, they will welcome Provine at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chiefs will be up against the Rams' rather soft defense (which has allowed 60.8 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
