Volleyball Recap: Mabel-Canton Takes Down Ranked Lake of the Woods

Mabel-Canton faced Lake of the Woods in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cougars walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Bears. The win was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on three straight.

Kinley Soiney paced Mabel-Canton's offense, picking up 13 kills. Soiney got some help from Gwenyth Rein and her 21 assists. Soiney was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Mabel-Canton's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Lake of the Woods, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Mabel-Canton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Pine River-Backus on the 22nd. As for Lake of the Woods, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Floodwood on the 22nd.
