Basketball Recap: Washington Leadership Academy Skates Past Washington Latin Public Charter School with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against New Hope Academy Regional, Washington Leadership Academy was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 72-40 win over the Washington Latin Public Charter School Lions. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 49-47 last Saturday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Washington Leadership Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amari Clarke, who shot 4-for-4 from deep and dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten assists. That's the most points Clarke has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dawaun McLean, who dropped a triple-double on 13 points, 20 boards, and 12 blocks.

Washington Leadership Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

When it comes to explaining why Washington Latin Public Charter School lost, don't look at Curtis Steve. Despite the final result, he posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nael Daniel, who scored eight points.

Washington Leadership Academy's record now sits at 6-10. As for Washington Latin Public Charter School, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-12.

Washington Leadership Academy has already played their next contest, an 85-48 victory against BASIS on the 23rd. Washington Latin Public Charter School has also already played their next match (against Richard Wright Public Charter School), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
